Olivetti

Olivetti were founded in 1908 and initially made typewriters. Based in Turin, Italy, Olivetti made computers, calculators and printers.

Over the years, Olivetti have been bought and sold so many times, it is hard to keep up. They have also bought and sold a number of firms themselves, including Acorn, the British computer manufacturer most famous for making the BBC computer and also the developer of the ARM chips used in many mobile phones.

Officially, Olivetti are owned by Telecom Italia at the moment and are officially known as Olivetti Tecnost.

Their printers have never really had the impact on the market the company would probably want and so in 2005, Olivetti began to release new inkjet printers into the market, the first being the LINEA_OFFICE brand which were soon being sold by large high street stores.
